FHIR Ballot Summary

Sep 8, 2012

Here’s a summary of the outcomes from the FHIR ballot: * Affirmative: 23

  • Negative: 47
  • Abstain: 87

I’d like to thank all the people who voted affirmative - thanks for your endorsement of the general idea of FHIR.

For the people who voted negatively: By and large, the votes were associated with a set of challenging line items that span from the smallest of concerns to the largest - exactly appropriate for a Draft For Comment ballot on the first cycle. So I thank all the voters for this. I have done a pass on the ballot comments, and divided the line items up into categories:

  • Governance Issues: 3
  • Conceptual issues (What is FHIR?): 10
  • General Methodology Issues: 5
  • Issues with the way things are described: 15
  • Specific comments about the information structures: 21
  • Conformance Layer Issues: 4
  • Publication Issues: 3

All up, 64 issues (3 are not categorised yet while I seek further clarity).

We’ll be adding to the issues list during the connectathon today. My next post will be a report from the today’s connectathon.
